[art direction for The Right Livelihood Award 2021 in collaboration with Iman Aram and Stella Auburger]
This project is a campaign designed to increase international awareness of the Right Livelihood Foundation and the 2021 Laureates as well as to initiate public involvement in a growing global community. The design concept is centered around the notion of change, manifested by implementing analog and digital resources – an annual newspaper and a digital poster generator – that are continuously integrated.
The newspaper provides an overview about the Right Livelihood organization, highlights the current year’s recipients, and reflects the rising community of past award winners. It incorporates a different color each year to showcase the Laureates and includes posters for distribution about the Right Livelihood. The newspaper concludes with a yearly open call to participate by making a poster on the website.
The poster generator is a tool for the public to enjoy creating a poster that spreads awareness about the issues that activists are fighting for. An interactive interface enables creativity and play with shapes, colors, type, and composition derived from the Right Livelihood branding and visual expression. Posters can be saved, downloaded, printed, and shared. Several participants are then featured each year in the annual newspaper on the front cover and in the center spread.
